Lola Mananova is the founder and chief executive officer of Aurora Home Care in Philadelphia, where her life’s deepest loss has quietly shaped her most meaningful success. She did not come to the United States to chase a dream, but to protect her children as war overtook their homeland. In doing so, she sacrificed the chance to say goodbye to her parents—a grief that still lives within her. “Home care chose me,” she says. “It became my way of honoring my parents by caring for someone else’s.” Today, Aurora has grown into a large-scale operation that has created more than 1,000 jobs. Beyond home care, she has built ventures in real estate, floral design and hospitality. Her newest endeavor, Dunya Home Design, introduces a next-generation marble product she believes will transform interiors across the country.
