The 2026 Social Media Playbook for Entrepreneurs PART 2 (S24E8)

This Week On The Blox

The Bloxers have gotten a crash course in social media, but knowing how to build an audience and actually knowing what to do with that attention are two very different things.

Now it's time to put those lessons to the test in their next challenge, where the founders will have to prove they can turn social media strategy into something more than likes, shares, and wishful thinking. And with another Blox Off looming, the stakes are getting higher. Who will rise to the occasion, who will crack under the pressure, and which founders will find themselves fighting to stay in the competition?

Stay tuned. Things are about to get interesting!

Google Ads: It's Not About Who Spends the Most, It's About Who Spends the Smartest

Google Ads may run on an auction system, but having the biggest budget doesn't automatically guarantee the best results. Every time someone searches for a keyword, advertisers compete for the opportunity to appear in front of that potential customer. And the more competition there is, the more those clicks can cost. The real advantage comes from knowing which keywords are worth pursuing, how to reach people who are ready to buy, and how to make every advertising dollar work harder. A strategic approach can help smaller businesses compete without blowing their entire marketing budget on a handful of clicks.

Your Customers Are Already Telling You What to Search For

The best keyword research starts with getting inside your customer's head. What would they type into Google when looking for a business like yours? What problems are they trying to solve? Once you've identified those starting points, tools like Google's Keyword Planner can help you discover related searches, evaluate competition, and estimate costs. But don't confuse popular keywords with profitable ones. A search term that attracts thousands of visitors means very little if none of them become paying customers. Prioritize relevance and buying intent over sheer traffic volume.

Some Customers Are Searching for You. Others Don't Know They Need You Yet.

There's a major difference between reaching someone who's actively looking for a solution and introducing someone to a problem they haven't considered. That's where demand harvesting and demand creation come into play. Google Ads and search engines are powerful for capturing existing demand because they connect your business with people already seeking answers. Social media and content marketing help create demand by building awareness, sparking curiosity, and showing potential customers why your solution matters. Neither approach is inherently better. The strongest marketing strategies understand when to generate interest and when to turn that interest into action.

Your Marketing Budget Should Follow the Results, Not Your Gut

Just because a marketing channel is bringing in traffic doesn't mean it's bringing in business. To understand what's actually working, create comparable landing pages with separate tracking for visitors arriving through Google Ads and social media. Then look beyond clicks and impressions to evaluate conversions, customer quality, and acquisition costs. Which channel produces more qualified leads? Where are customers taking action? Which investment delivers the greatest return? When you have the numbers in front of you, you can stop making expensive assumptions and start allocating your budget based on actual performance.

SEO Isn't a One-Trick Pony

Getting your business to show up in Google's organic search results takes more than sprinkling a few keywords across your website and hoping for the best. Search engine optimization is a combination of interconnected factors, including valuable content, website organization, technical performance, backlinks, credibility, and the overall user experience. Think of each element as part of a larger strategy. You might have incredible content, but if your website is difficult to navigate or search engines struggle to understand it, you're limiting your potential. Long-term SEO success comes from consistently improving the entire experience, making it easier for both search engines and customers to recognize the value your business provides.

Kelby McCan
Kelby McCan
Real Estate Development, Serial Entrepreneur and Actor

Kelby McCan has built his life around helping people feel safe when the stakes are high. At 20 years old, he was selected for Air Force Special Warfare Pararescue, beginning a 10-year career that took him across four continents rescuing military personnel and civilians affected by natural disasters. Years later, Kelby found himself on the other side of a crisis. Just two months after purchasing a home in Port Aransas, Texas with his wife and newborn daughter, Hurricane Harvey devastated their property. During the rebuilding process, they discovered that portions of the home had been sold to them with unpermitted dwellings that couldn’t legally be rebuilt. With a mortgage to pay and rental income suddenly gone, Kelby returned overseas to contract in Africa while his family stayed behind. That experience changed the trajectory of his career. Determined to make sure other families had someone protecting their interests during one of the biggest purchases of their lives, Kelby studied real estate while overseas and became an agent. His mission was simple: provide the honest, relentless representation he wished his own family had received. The approach resonated. In his first year, Kelby represented a $2.2 million home and later secured contracts totaling $15 million in properties over a four-month period. Today, Kelby serves the Port Aransas market with the same mindset that defined his military career: protect the people who trust you, stay calm when things get complicated, and never quit when someone is counting on you. For Kelby, real estate isn’t just about selling property. It’s about making sure his clients never feel like they’re facing the biggest decisions of their lives alone.
